I mention in “How to Create a Glowing Photo” that you can paint out the added glow in Photoshop. You can use the same technique to create a textured photo. In this case I used a portrait of a yellow wildflower and an abstract of lungwort leaves.

I placed the lungwort photo on top of the flower photo layer, after rotating it ninety degrees, and added a layer mask using the hide all option. Using a brush of different sizes I painted in the parts of the lungwort photo I wanted to show through. A final adjustment to the opacity of the lungwort layer and that’s it.

Here’s the lungwort photo I used as the texture. It makes a great abstract on its own.

“Lungwort Leaves Abstract”

Lungwort makes a great groundcover in shaded areas. The spotted leaves and tiny lavendar flowers really brighten up an area.

Why the “Lemon Twist” in the title? Two reasons: 1. To make you want to read the post and 2. The color of the flowers.
